Day 9: Angela's "31 Days of Pink: Project for a Purpose"

Day 9: My Vera Bradley wallet in "Pink Cupcakes" that matches my purse I shared earlier this month, given to me by my DZ alumnae Big Sis Shirley.

Today's breast cancer fact, courtesy of Susan G. Komen for the Cure: In the United States, Caucasian women have the highest incidence of breast cancer, while Native American and Alaskan Native women have the lowest.

A Review and a Recipe: Sidral Mundet apple soda and "Angela's Apple Cinnamon Delight Bundt Cake"

Sidral Mundet is one of the best-known brands in Mexico and is now sold in stores across America. Their line of apple soda made with real apples and no artificial flavors has been around since 1902. Recently they sent me two of their sodas to review, including their new Green Apple soda.
I loved the taste when I used it in baking my apple bundt cake and making the glaze. This recipe can be easily adapted by substituting regular apple juice for the Sidral Mundet apple flavored soda. This cake can be enjoyed with or without the glaze for diabetic or health-conscious family and friends.

“Angela’s Apple Cinnamon Delight Bundt Cake”
1 1/2 cups Splenda brown sugar

3 large eggs
1 stick unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup Sidral Mundet Green Apple flavored soft drink
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon cinnamon
5 medium apples, peeled and chopped (I use Granny Smith)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray bundt pan with cooking spray. In large bowl, combine brown sugar, eggs, butter and apple juice. Mix until smooth. Add dry ingredients and mix until combined. Fold in apples to mixture. Pour batter into pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes, until toothpick inserted in cake comes out clean. Cool in pan at least 15 minutes. Invert cake from pan onto rack to cool completely .

“Angela’s Grand Apple Glaze”

1 cup confectioner's sugar

2 tablespoons Sidral Mundet apple-flavored soft drink

Combine both ingredients in mixing bowl. Stir until smooth. Adjust consistency, if needed, by adding an additional 1/2-1 tablespoon of apple juice. Drizzle glaze over cooled cake and let set before serving. Enjoy!

Day 8: Angela's "31 Days of Pink: Project for a Purpose"

My favorite pair of house pajamas in warmer weather: Lilly Pulitzer Clammies 'n Jammies. I must also direct you to the butterfly design on the bottom of the pant leg. Meant to be. :)

Today's breast cancer fact, courtesy of Susan G. Komen for the Cure:  It is estimated that more than 1.6 million new cases of breast cancer occurred among women worldwide in 2010.

Day 7: Angela's "31 Days of Pink: Project for a Purpose"

Day 7: One of my favorite Vera Bradley purse patterns in my collection: "Pink Cupcakes", (the pattern's name, alone, should tell you I would like it :) given to me by my in-laws for my birthday last year. The Vera Bradley company established the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer and their patterns that generate proceeds supporting breast cancer research are gorgeous. Today's breast cancer fact, courtesy Susan G. Komen for the Cure: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide.

Tomorrow, October 8th, is Vera Bradley's "Tickled Pink Day". 25% of net proceeds from each purchase online and at participating retailers will be donated to the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. I look forward to taking part and shopping for the cause!

My pink and green rolling luggage. I have no trouble spotting my luggage at the airport baggage claim line.

As mammography screening rates have increased, more cases of breast cancer are found at earlier stages, when they are more easily and successfully treated.

Day 4: Angela's "31 Days of Pink: Project for a Purpose"

This is one of my favorite hair products: Paul Mitchell's "Hot Off The Press" flat iron protectant product. Right now, they are selling this special edition pink can for their "Style for a Cause" campaign, with proceeds from the sales going to breast cancer research.
Today's breast cancer fact, courtesy Susan G. Komen for the Cure:
Although rare, younger women can also get breast cancer. Just five percent of all breast cancers occur in women under age 40.
