Recipe Corner: "Angela's Aim to Please Potato Salad"
Memorial Day weekend is here and this week I am sharing one of my favorite summertime side dishes: potato salad. It always brings back treasured childhood days when Grandma Cleva would dazzle with her potato salad at everywhere from potlucks to picnics. Exploring the ins and outs of everything potato salad was a fun kitchen adventure for me. Maybe you will take this recipe and embark on your own kitchen adventure and share it with your family or loved ones at a gathering or perhaps you will see it among other dishes on a potluck table. Most of all, I hope this summer finds you creating some treasured memories of your own with friends and loved ones.
“Angela’s Aim to Please Potato Salad”
6 medium potatoes (about 2 pounds), peeled, cubed & cooked
1 cup mayonnaise
1 heaping tablespoon mustard
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/2 cup sweet pickles, chopped
2 eggs, hard-boiled
Optional: 1 teaspoon parsley
1 teaspoon paprika
1 egg, hard-boiled & chopped
Peel potatoes, dice into cubes. In large pot, bring water to a boil and add potatoes. Cook 25-30 minutes or until tender. Drain. Place cubed potatoes in large bowl. Stir in mayonnaise. Add mustard and salt to mixture. Add onions, pickles and eggs. Toss gently to combine well. Transfer into serving bowl. Garnish, if desired, with parsley, paprika and chopped egg. Serve warm or cover and chill at least 1 hour before serving. Serves 8-10. Enjoy!

My final Bridal Shower is here! Recipe Corner: "The Southern Fried Bride's Deviled Eggs"
My third and final bridal shower is tomorrow and I am so excited to gather with loved ones to celebrate mine and Craig's upcoming marriage! This recipe is both ideal and economical for serving at events such as a bridal
shower. My late, great maternal grandmother Grandma Cleva taught me to make deviled eggs and over the years I have created my own recipe. They seem extra-special served this time of year with all of spring’s awakenings around us.
"The Southern Fried Bride's Deviled Eggs"
Makes 2 dozen
12 large eggs, boiled and peeled
½ cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
2 tablespoons pickle relish
½ teaspoon salt
Garnish: 1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon parsley
24 green olives
Place eggs in a large saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Cover and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove eggs from hot water, allow to cool and then peel shell from eggs. Cut eggs in half, lengthwise. Remove yolks from eggs and place in medium size bowl. Mash yolks with a fork until desired consistency and mix together with mayonnaise, pickle relish and mustard. Add salt, to taste. Spoon yolk mixture into the empty egg white halves. Garnish with paprika, parsley and green olive, if desired. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. Enjoy!

The Mother of the Bride: A Mother's Day Tribute
My late, great mother along with my Grandma Cleva was one of my two foremost heroes in life. As you can see from this picture, she taught me about the joy of accessorizing from a young age. I was 26 when she died in 2001 after a courageous 11 month battle against kidney failure. She showed me devoted love in life and showed me immeasurable courage in the way she died. She was 49, 2 months from her 50th birthday.
We both so looked forward to my wedding day. I wanted her to give me away. I have thought about what to do and say for a Mother's Day tribute post in her memory this year and I decided to share with you my tribute to her that I chose for my wedding invitation.
She loved writing as I do. I can't help but think she passed down to me that fervent love of sharing the written word. This is a poem she wrote about love and it is one of my favorites. I had this poem placed on the back of mine and Craig's wedding invitation so although I am not ready to post a picture of our entire wedding invitation, in honor of Mother's Day weekend, here is a picture of the back page of our wedding invitation with her love poem. It is in my wedding colors of pink and green with the butterflies my mother so loved gently fluttering as she did through life bringing joy to so many.
Thank you so much to the fabulous MagnetStreet Weddings invitation company for their amazing designs which allowed me to incorporate create my special tribute to my mother to the design of our wedding invitations.
In Loving Memory

100 Followers! Meet #100
Yesterday I hit 100 followers! I decided I would surprise that #100 with a prize. When I checked who #100 was, it was not only one of my local friends but a friend I was meeting with last night to talk about my wedding plans over CherryBerry sundaes. I hand-delivered Shayna Rogers' prize for being follower 100: Ulta's "Berry Crush" bath and body set. I'm very happy that she loved it!
Meet my 100th follower: Shayna Rogers!
This is one of my favorite pictures of Shayna and her husband Will from their wedding day nearly 2 years ago. Shayna and Will live here in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and they are expecting their first child in October! They are both wonderful, creative people and they are helping me plan mine and Craig's wedding.
I am blessed to have each and every one of you who are following my blog! Stay tuned for a few more follower surprises as my wedding day draws closer!
